The Pre-Washing Machine is a cleaning equipment typically located at the first stage of a line, used in food processing facilities to remove the coarsest contaminants, soil, mud, stones, and heavy foreign matter from raw materials (fruits, vegetables, legumes, etc.) that are freshly harvested or stored. Its purpose is to prepare the product for subsequent, more delicate and costly washing, processing, and peeling machines. AISI 304 quality Stainless Steel is used.
- Large amounts of soil, sand, and mud found on agricultural products can clog the filters of subsequent washing machines and damage their pumps.
- Pre-washing dissolves and separates a large portion of this coarse dirt before subjecting the product to a more comprehensive cleaning.
- At this stage, products are usually cleaned of their coarse dirt by softening (immersion/soaking) with the aid of a water current or by spraying pressurized water.
- The water used in pre-washing is generally cycled in a system separate from the clean water used in subsequent washing and rinsing stages or is directed to a separate tank.
- This prevents the clean and disinfected water used in the final wash from being rapidly contaminated by the coarsest dirt, thereby achieving water and chemical savings.
